Toyota Prius Best Selling Hybrid Vehicle!

In May 2008, it was announced that Toyota surpassed the one million mark on their highly popular and best selling hybrid, the Prius. In fact, due to demand and shortages, they will be opening another facility for production in Mississippi and moving the previously planned vehicle productions from that plant to a location elsewhere - making the Mississippi plant wholly dedicated to the production of the Prius.

The Prius was one of the first cars to reach the 60,000 unit limit for hybrid tax rebates in the form of tax credits, and is one of the most popular hybrids to date. They hybrids rebate program - as it is popularly known, is actually a tax credit program where your ‘hybrid rebates’ are given to you in the form of paying less on your income taxes.

Some states, like Colorado, offer state government hybrid rebates, or hybrid tax rebates. Other states that have a program are Connecticut, California, Illinois, and New York - this also includes cities that participate in ways like free parking.

To date the numbers of Prius sales are still breaking new records, and with the recent advancements from the old models in 2004, they are running better than before.

Currently under their NHW20 revision they can get up to - and past - 46 miles to the gallon of gas. The technology integrates an engine shutoff for when going downhill, or stopped, allowing it to run off of electric and switch back and forth as needed. This greatly increases efficiency, as does the regenerative braking. In addition to this the current design has the lowest drag of any mass produced vehicle, and design updates continually alter the body to improve upon this.

The car also includes a navigation system, along with optional for rear cameras and other personal enhancements.
