Low Emission Vehicles are taking the country by storm. With the high fuel prices and looming climate crisis more and more people are opting for public transit, car pooling, Alternative Fuel Vehicles, Dual Fuel Vehicles and Hybrid Vehicles. This site is mainly dedicated to Rebates and Credits for Hybrid vehicles but also offers some information on other incentives for Low Emission Vehicles, namely in our REBATES & CREDITS section.

Google defines a Hybrid Vehicle as any vehicle that combines two or more sources of power that can directly or indirectly provide propulsion power. Hybrid Vehicles first hit the US market in 1999 with the Honda Insight and took off fast. By 2005 over 200,000 hybrids were being purchased yearly with owners taking advantage of rebates, and the numbers continue to grow. Currently only Toyota, Honda, Ford, Lexus, Mercury, Chevy, Nissan, Mazda and Dodge manufacture Hybrids in the US, but Saturn, Hyundai, Volkswagen, Mercedes and Porsche currently have plans to release Hybrid car models by 2010.

The United States Government along with companies across the US offer an array of benefits for Hybrid drivers. Some government incentives include tax credits, tax rebates, designated/free parking and admittance to High Occupancy Vehicle lanes. Businesses all over the US are doing their part as well; some insurance companies offer discounts and rebates to Hybrid drivers and some hotels even offer discounted room rates as well as cash rebates. Other businesses ranging from restaurants to shopping malls are offering parking incentives, including designated Hybrid parking. For more information on credits, rebates and other incentives available in your area please contact your local legislator and DMV branch.
